Regenerate an API key

On this page

Regenerating gives a key a new secret value. The key keeps its ID, name and usage history. Do it when a key may have leaked, when you have lost the value, or as part of regular rotation.

Steps

  1. Open API keys. Log in and go to simplecold.com/dashboard/api-keys.
  2. Find the key in the table. It must be enabled; regenerate isn't offered for disabled keys.
  3. Open the actions menu (the three dots on the row) and choose Regenerate.
  4. Confirm in the "Regenerate API key?" dialog.
  5. Copy the new key. It is shown once, like a new key.
  6. Update your integrations with the new value.

Rotating without downtime

To swap keys without a moment of failed requests, use two keys instead of regenerating one:

  1. Create a new key.
  2. Deploy it to your integrations.
  3. Disable the old key once nothing uses it.
